On October 30, 2023, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Higher Education of the NAES of Ukraine was held in a mixed mode (both online and offline)

The following issues were considered during the session of the Academic Council:
– making changes to the body of the Institute’s Academic Council;
– approving the themes of dissertation studies for graduate students and the individual plans of graduate students and doctoral students for the 2023–2024 academic year
– approving the reports:
by the head of the department of research activity of universities Olga Mykhailivna Petroye and the head of the department of interaction between universities and society Natalia Shofolova about the results of the business trip to Genoa (Italy) from July 22 to 31, 2023 in order to participate in the training “Social inclusion” as part of the implementation of the EU Erasmus+ Project “Strengthening cooperation between universities and communities” (UNICOM);
by the head of the department of research activity of universities Olga Mykhailivna Petroye about the results of the business trip to the city of Riga (Latvia) from August 20 to 27, 2023 in order to participate in the educational training visit “National regulation and implementation of the third mission in higher education institutions – experience and cooperation with social partners” as part of the implementation of the EU Erasmus+ Project “Strengthening cooperation between universities and communities” (UNICOM);
– approving the scientific and analytical report of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine “Higher education under the conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction of Ukraine: challenges and answers” for presentation at the General Assembly of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine on November 17, 2023, as well as recommending the publication of its manuscript.
As a result of the consideration of these issues, the Academic Council of the Institute has made the corresponding decisions.

From German national policy to Fachhochschule des Mittelstands experience in implementing the third mission of universities

The study visit to the Fachhochschule des Mittelstands in Bielefeld (Germany) was organized in a blended format, which gave an opportunity for the larger part of representatives of the project teams to learn about the innovative experience of implementing the third mission of German universities for four days (October 16-19, 2023).
The program was full of visits to innovative locations and attendance in interactive workshops with inspired discussions between project team members.
Lemgo Campus impressed the visiting participants with a combination of vocational colleges, universities, manufacturing companies, and inventors. The modern buildings of the campus contain spaces for cooperation, innovation, acquisition of skills and abilities, tests, piloting of technologies, creativity, and self-realization.
The presented information on the concept of an open innovative city and initiatives of digital interaction of universities with civil society will be useful during the reconstruction of the industrial complex of Ukraine and now for the development of the country’s human capital and social cohesion.
As part of the workshop “City of Open Innovations” with the mentoring of Professor Rulf Treidel and Dr. Mirko Petersen, teams of Ukrainian universities, including online participants, received new ideas and insights for further developing the third mission of universities.
Upon return, the project teams will conduct a series of meetings with focus groups to determine how Ukrainian universities and their main stakeholders understand and are ready to develop the third mission of universities.

Experience Sharing – Third mission of universities & University- Community cooperation

On October 2-6, 2023, the UNICOM project partners had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with and learn from the experience of implementing the third mission by the Czech University of Natural Sciences in Prague.

The study visit was organized by the Faculty of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and coordinated by associate professor and leader of the Biogas research group Hynek Roubík, who highlighted the main provisions of the National Strategy for the Development of the Third Mission of Higher Education Institutions and introduced the best practices of the interaction of European institutions of higher education in the development of the third mission on the example of the Czech University of Natural Sciences in Prague.

Thanks to researcher Stacy Denise Hammond, participants had the opportunity to work out ways to strengthen the third mission of universities based on active communication with the community.

As a result of the fruitful work during the practical sessions for the purposes of sustainable development in the fields of energy, economy, and ecology, the participants had the opportunity to work out the current challenges and opportunities for ensuring food security in Ukraine in the current and forecasted period.

The following issues were considered during the session of the Academic Council:
– effectiveness of the admissions campaign to postgraduate and doctoral schools of the Institute;
– preparation for the XII International Scientific and Practical Conference “European Integration of Higher Education of Ukraine in the Context of the Bologna Process”;
– approving changes to the Thematic Plan of Scientific Research of the Institute by the topics of the NAES of Ukraine for 2023;
– award submission of the Institute’s employees with awards of the NAES of Ukraine.
As a result of the consideration of these issues, the Academic Council of the Institute has made the corresponding decisions.

On August 31, 2023, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Higher Education of the NAES of Ukraine was held in a mixed mode (both online and offline)

The following issues were considered during the session of the Academic Council:
– approving the recommendations to improve the quality of research and its presentation;
– making changes to the «Regulations on the Organization of the Educational Process of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine», “Regulations on the Department of Scientific Organizational and Personnel Work”, “Attestation Form of a Researcher of the Institute of Higher Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” (in accordance with the Institute’s obligations in the UTTERLY project);
– approving the certification of postgraduate students in their first and fourth years of study;
– withdrawing from the post-graduate school those studying for the degree of doctor of philosophy under the educational-scientific program “Politics and leadership in higher education” (specialty 011 – educational, pedagogical sciences) due to the end of their training period;
– admitting to the post-graduate school under the educational-scientific program “Teaching and learning in higher education” in specialty 011 – educational, pedagogical sciences and appointing academic supervisors;
– admitting to the doctorate school in the field 013 – pedagogical sciences and appointing academic consultants;
– renewing graduate student Z.V. Lytvyn for the fourth year of studies;
– making changes to the editorial board of the academic journal “Philosophy of Education”.
As a result of the consideration of these issues, the Academic Council of the Institute has made the corresponding decisions.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the website of EU Erasmus+ Project “Universities-Communities: Strengthening Cooperation” (UNICOM): https://unicom.community

The project dissemination team has also prepared project presentations, approved the project logo and the project leaflet (project fiche).

During the first year of project implementation, UNICOM partnership will focus on the development of research methodology regarding the implementation of the third university mission and cooperation with communities, conducting this research, as well as investigating the actual needs of communities where partner universities reside.

Currently, Institute of Higher Education team together with National Coordinator Dragomanov Ukrainian State University and Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities is developing UNICOM Quality Assurance Strategy.

On March 30, 2023, a meeting of the Academic Council of the Institute of Higher Education of the NAES of Ukraine was held in a mixed mode (both online and offline).

The following issues were considered during the session of the Academic Council:

  • making changes to the composition of the Institute’s Academic Council and awarding Zhanneta Talanova, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, chief researcher of the Department of Quality Assurance of Higher Education, with the academic rank of professor;
  • creating a specialized academic council at the Institute for awarding the academic degree of Doctor of Sciences;
  • Rules for admission to the graduate school of the Institute in 2023;
  • report on the work of the Council of Young Researchers of the Institute in 2019–2022;
  • the work plan of the Council of Young Researchers for 2023;
  • preparation for the II International Conference “Personality, University, Society: Problems of Interaction and Development”;
  • making changes to the composition of the editorial board of the academic journal “Philosophy of Education”.

As a result of consideration of these issues, the Academic Council of the Institute has adopted the corresponding decisions.
